Tomorrow, When The War Began (Book)

Ellie Linton invited Robyn on the camping trip to Hell, instead of going to the wirrawee show. After some convincing, she was granted the permission to go. Others going on the camping trip were Corrie Mackenzie, Kevin Holmes, Fiona Maxwell, Lee Takkam and Homer Yannos,

Ellie describes Robyn as very quiet and serious. Earning many effort cetificates at school, she loved to win, and was very determined during Netball. Robyn is small, strong, nuggety and Beautifully Balanced.

Robyn was the one who found the bridge built by the hermit, which excited everyone on the trip.

The next day nobody did much. Except

for a Snake in Homer's sleeping bag. Robyn held a stick on one end, while Kevin held one stick on the other. Once they dropped it Robyn escaped the snake and they had a laugh about Fi not knowing that snakes can swim.

That night, Robyn and Lee heard many planes flying towards Wirrawee. Robyn was a little worried about it the next day, but didn't show anyone her concern until it was too late. She joined in with a joke that it's the start of World War 3.

The group got quite slack. The last day of the trip Robyn says she doesn't want to leave Hell.

When they get back to Ellie's they find all dogs, except Millie dead. Robyn and Kevin find the power out. Lee whispers something to Robyn which makes her feel extremely scared (that it could be World War 3).

When they arrived at Homer's place there is an argument. They all apologise and try and think of any other explanation than the war. They then go to Corrie's, and Robyn explain the layout of her house, as there is a hill out the back that has a view of Wirrawee. Before they leave Corrie and Ellie find a note from Corrie's dad.

At Robyn's the only lights they see are at the showground and a few other buildings (Hospital).

Homer than gives the group stuff to do. Robyn and Lee go to Lee's restaurant, to try and find his parents. Homer and Fi go to Fi's house and Ellie, Kevin and Corrie go to inspect the showground.

When Robyn and Lee do not show up at the meeting place, Homer and Ellie go looking for them. They see a movement in the window's at Robyn's house. It turns out to be Robyn, who faints.

When Robyn comes back around, she reveals that Lee's been shot. She explained what had happened. They had run into some trouble, they hid and ran into Dr.Clement (Local Dentist) . He revealed that everyone who was caught was at the showground. The invaders were professionals, and 'number-makers'. The pros treated people better. They reached a newsagent, when soldiers started shooting at them. They ran inside and Lee got shot. Robyn carried Lee to his restraunt where Dr. Clement fixed him up and taught Robyn how to be the 'doctor' while he went away.

Robyn, Ellie, Homer and Lee escaped after inventing a plan (Which ended in Ellie running over 2 cars) and stopped at they're friend Chris Lang's (who wasn't able to go on the trip) place and dumped the car they escaped with, to find Chris alive and well. He goes along with them and while driving, he explained he hid when he discovered the war.

They met up with the others and went back to Hell, with food they collected.

In Hell they used Corrie's radio to find information. It's not world war 3 yet, but people from around asia are invading.

They have a group vote on whether or not they are going to fight these invaders. Everyone votes yes, even Chris.

Robyn, Chris, Corrie and Kevin go off to Wirrawee to get some information on their families. Robyn comes back to find Homer and Fi, and Ellie and Lee are both dating.

She informs them on what happened in Wirrawee. They've been some developments. The enemy are sending out work parties to clean the streets, bury people, collecting food and run the hospital. Robyn then blurts out accidently that Ellie's been keeping it busy. After some convincing, Ellie is told she killed 4 people, possibly more. Many others from Wirrawee have died.

They also find out everyone's family are safe.

After that conversation they wonder if they had to run the nation themselves, what job they would get. Kevin as Prime Minister, Chris as Police Commissioner, Homer was Minister for Health and Chief of general staff, Ellie as Poet Laureate, Lee as Pensioner of the year, Corrie as Minister for Kevin and Fi as Attorney General. Robyn wanted to be Minister For Heath but got Archbishop.

Homer wants to attack the enemy. Robyn still isn't sure about that, if it means murdering people, but still agrees to attack them.

They make plans to go into Wirrawee to collect food and other items. Robyn, Chris, Kevin and Corrie were going to get some of Kevin's uncle's ferrets, while Ellie, Homer, Fi and Lee go into Wirrawee to look for targets to destroy.

While Homer, Ellie, Fi and Lee blow up the Wirrawee Bridge, Corrie gets shot. When they meet up again, Robyn cries soundlessly, and goes back to hell with an also devestated Ellie and Fi, Chris, Lee and Homer.

Tomorrow, When The War Began (movie)

The great film begins with a video log by Ellie. She asks the camera how she can tell their story. She suggests to herself "from the beginning."

Country high school student Ellie (Caitlin Stasey) sets off on a camping trip to "hell's Gate", with close childhood friend Corrie (Rachel Hurd-Wood), together with Corrie's boyfriend Kevin, Ellie's next-door neighbour Homer, high school crush Lee and friends Robyn and Fiona. After driving Ellie's parents' Land Rover into the mountains, they hike down into a remote valley known as "Hell".

During their second night camping, Ellie wakes to a sky full of military aircraft. Upon arriving back in town, the group finds their homes abandoned, without power, internet and telephone lines down. From the hill overlooking Robyn's house, the group sees that the only lights on in town are at the hospital and showground. Upon reaching the showground, they find that the citizens of the town are being detained by a foreign military group. Ellie witnesses a man being executed with a shot to the head, and in her horror retreats too quickly, being spotted by a searchlight. They flee but are pursued by soldiers into the backyard of a house. Ellie, using Kevin's singlet, lighter and the fuel tank of a ride-on lawn mower, creates an explosion that eliminates the squad.

On return to Corrie's house, they find that Lee and Robyn are missing. Ellie and Corrie witness an RAAF jet fighter being shot down by enemy aircraft. Whilst the group gathers inside to plan for their return to Hell, an enemy helicopter performs a close examination of the house. Homer shoots out searchlight of the helicopter, which retreats after dropping flares. The group barely escape with their lives as a jet destroys the home.

That night, Ellie and Homer sneak back into town and find Robyn in her house. Lee has been wounded, and is being treated by Dr Clements (Colin Friels), the local dentist, who informs them that the invading forces are bringing in their vehicles and equipment from ships moored in Cobbler's Bay over the Wirrawee Bridge. After a brief skirmish with a pair of armed buggies, Robyn, Homer, Lee and Ellie meet back up at Corrie's home. They decide to return to Hell.

On the way, they stop at a house and are greeted by school mate Chris, who is incredibly stoned and has no idea that a war is going on. Chris joins the group. They return to Hell, with plans to use it as a secluded hideout where the enemy forces will not find them. While there, they hear a radio transmission revealing that Australia has been invaded by "The Coalition Nations" from nearby Asia, who believe that they have a right to the country's vast natural resources and wealth in order to sustain their growing populations. The transmission also reveals one of the three main ports being used to deposit soldiers into the country is nearby Cobbler's Bay, the only exit from which is the Heron Bridge, which the group then makes plans to destroy.

The group sneaks back to Wirrawee, and devise a plan to blow up Heron Bridge. Ellie and Fi steal a petrol tanker from the council depot. They park it near the bridge and wait for the rest of the team to take their positions. After being discovered by guards, they rush to drive the tanker forward under the bridge. The plan necessarily brought forward, Homer and Lee scare a herd of cattle onto the bridge, forcing the sentries to flee their posts, allowing Ellie to park the tanker under the bridge unhindered. Working together, they manage to explode the tanker, which utterly destroys the bridge. Corrie however is shot as the group escapes.

Despite certain capture, Kevin decides to drive Corrie, who is seriously wounded, to the hospital and remain by her side. The group return to Hell. Ellie then finishes her video log, revealing their ongoing guerrilla war, the necessity to fight, and that they have yet to be found.
